From Anxiety to Peace
I grew up around church, but university is where my faith was really tested.
For the first time, I was in an environment where Christianity wasn’t just unfamiliar, it was openly challenged. The culture around me was heavy with drinking, sex, drugs, and the pressure to fit in. On top of that, I was surrounded by an intensely atheistic mindset. Conversations with students and professors often left me questioning things more deeply and feeling increasingly low, anxious, and unmoored.
I remember reaching a point where the sadness and fear felt hard to carry. One day, in my bedroom, I opened the Bible and started reading Ecclesiastes, a book that wrestles honestly with life, meaning, and purpose. It met me in a way I wasn’t expecting.
As I read, I encountered Jesus in a way that was deeply real and personal. The anxiety, heaviness, and inner turmoil that had been crippling me lifted. In its place came a peace I can only describe as the presence of God. It was powerful, healing, and life-changing.
That moment didn’t just make me feel better for a day. It changed the direction of my life. What I had known about Jesus growing up became something I had experienced for myself. Since then, my faith has been rooted not just in what I was taught, but in the reality of who he is.
